Dr. Eric Sugihara
Dr. Eric Sugihara is a board-certified otolaryngologist. He earned his medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences in 2013, graduating with Dean’s List honors. He completed internship and residency at the Detroit Medical Center in 2018, where he was designated chief resident and awarded resident of the year in 2017. Dr. Sugihara additionally completed a fellowship in otology with Dr. Douglas Backous at Puget Sound ENT in 2019.
Dr. Sugihara has interest in humanitarian mission work and has participated with multiple organizations to provide educational, medical, and surgical support in Malawi, Haiti, and Honduras. He has received multiple humanitarian travel grants and presented his most recent otolaryngology mission in Malawi at the AAO-HNSF 2016 national meeting and later published the sustainable otolaryngology model in the “Ear, Nose & Throat Journal” in 2019.
Dr. Sugihara has been involved in research with several publications and presentations at national meetings. His most recent project with Cochlear Ltd. and Dr Douglas Backous studied cochlear implants and the delivery of care, presenting at the American Cochlear Implant Alliance 2019 symposium.
